David McCaig can't bend his leg. The fused bones make it impossible for him to drive. He can't walk without his crutches and he spends most of his time sitting in a wheelchair. If he needs to go to the post office, the Social Security office or visit the doctor, he has to depend on the availability of friends and family for a ride.
